Santa visits with children at firehouse - PHOTO GALLERY

Nearly 75 children were able to visit with Santa Claus at the Steelville Fire Station on Friday, December 19. Each received a gift and had snacks, too. The Santa night is made possible by fundraisers conducted by the Steelville Fire Protection District Auxiliary.

Ambulance district amends budget

    The Steelville Ambulance District (SAD) board met briefly on December 9 to approve payment of the monthly bills and to approve a budget amendment.

Steelville schools will continue to seek food service bids

    The Steelville School Board voted to continue its current food service bid plan, despite a plea from a local resident last month to consider how the current contractor has addressed employees after the Affordable Care Act went into effect. All but one board member voted in favor of continuing with the current program.

Steelville now has three Purple Heart Schools

PURPLE HEART SCHOOLS - The Steelville School District now has three Purple Heart schools. On December 9, members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart presented plaques to students from each building level to recognize their dedication and support in honoring combat wounded veterans of America.
