Nationwide relay will raise money for Boston Marathon bombing victims

3300 miles non-stop from LA to Boston via Cuba, Missouri 

The One Run For Boston cross-country relay, which last year raised $91,000 for the One Fund Boston to help the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, is gearing up for a re-run from Los Angeles to Boston starting March 16th. The record-breaking non-stop running relay is expected to reach Cuba, Missouri on April 2nd and there are plenty of opportunities for local runners and supporters to get involved.


University students to work on projects in town this spring

City leaders heard a report from the president of the Cuba Development Group at the February 18 meeting of the Cuba City Council. At that time, Mardy Leathers updated the board of aldermen on the projects he has been working on—and according to Leathers, things are going well.

FFA holding annual labor auction

    The Cuba FFA chapter will hold its 4th annual labor and pie auction on Monday, March 17. This is a rescheduled night from Tuesday, March 4, which was cancelled due to weather conditions.


Rocker racers share their stories

    The Sixth Annual “Race to the Rocker” is just around the corner, set to take place on March 22 in Cuba. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to participate or attend this event, sponsored by JOG, Inc. (Joggers of God, In Cuba). The four-mile race from historic uptown Cuba to the site of the World’s Largest Rocking Chair in Fanning is one that has steadily grown in popularity for a variety of reasons.

Design for Project Oak development on target

Project Oak, a major redevelopment venture along Cuba’s I-44 corridor, is moving through the design phase on schedule and with few hang-ups. Construction on the project is expected to start this spring, and in time, it will bring to town a new Taco Bell restaurant, Comfort Inn hotel, and an all-new Mobil On the Run convenience store and gas pumps.
