Chamber officials pleased with Chics and Chocolate turnout - PHOTO GALLERY

    Chics and Chocolate was a huge success for downtown businesses and the St. James Chamber of Commerce. Held on Thursday, September 25, participants had a fun evening of shopping, winning prizes, and enjoying tasty treats. The event has grown since its beginnings and this year was the largest Chics and Chocolate event ever.

Band takes first in Sullivan

    Red Regiment Marching Band members have a lot to celebrate after an outstanding performance at the Sullivan Marching Festival on Saturday. The St. James High School band brought home first place and several special awards.

St. James voters approve library tax

    St. James will retain its public library after a 30-cent per $100 of assessed valuation property tax passed on Tuesday. Voters approved the tax with 287 in favor and to 255 opposed. Revenue from the tax will provide a steady income stream for the continued operation of the James Memorial Public Library by the city of St. James.

Residents can now get rid of old medications at police department

    The St. James Police Department and Kiwanis Club teamed up for a prescription drug disposal on Saturday. Approximately 50 pounds of unused, over-the-counter and prescription medications were taken for proper disposal. The program is designed to keep unused medications out of the hands of children.

Bahr and Uffmann reign over homecoming - PHOTO GALLERY

    Zachary Bahr and Alexis Uffmann were crowned the 2014 homecoming king and queen on Friday night prior to the varsity football game between the St. James Tigers and the St. Clair Bulldogs.
