Park, cemetery work is going well

    Work to clean the St. James Park and cemetery is under way. With these new municipal properties, officials are working hard to determine how best to care for the grounds. Thunderstorms have dropped leaves and branches for workers to cleanup, but work has been going well for the new grounds.

Art show, craft sale et for this weekend

There will be lots of activities during the Sip ‘n’ Savor weekend including an art show and a craft bazaar. St. James High School art students will hold an art show at the Firehouse Coffee Shop this weekend. Student artists have been preparing exhibition pieces throughout the school year and will be on display for visitors. Also, the St. James PTO will be hosting a craft fair where visitors can find unique craft items from local talent.

SJMS Chess Club enjoys fine season

    The St. James Middle School Chess Club recently had their last meeting of the year and celebrated their accomplishments. Devon Brown and Jimmy Watson were the top eighth-grade players. Garren Gray was the top seventh-grade player.

Harlem Wizards coming to town next Wednesday

    The St. James PTO will be hosting the Harlem Wizards for a fundraising basketball event on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the St. James Middle School gym. The gates at both entrances to the Middle School will open at 6 p.m.


Sobering message delivered about driving drunk

    The Tau Iota Gamma fraternity held its annual Safe and Sober Prom program at John F. Hodge High School last week to raise awareness about drinking and driving. Held the week of prom each year, the fraternity alternates four different programs to encourage students to make responsible decisions before, during, and after prom as the time between prom and graduation can be a dangerous period for students.
