People concerned about impact of bridge project
A public hearing was held on November 26 to allow public comment on a bridge replacement project over the Dry Fork Creek west of St. James on Highway 8. Residents filled Lucy Wortham James Elementary School to learn about the project and voice their opinions on the best time for the project. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials spoke and took comments from citizens.
Troop I officers to participate in statewide holiday DWI enforcement campaign
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that Troop I officers will be participating in the statewide 2013 Holiday DWI Enforcement Campaign in an effort to stop people from driving while impaired this holiday season. Enforcement efforts will be increased from December 13, 2013 through January 4, 2014, and will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
Commission reviews insurance needs
During the weeks of November 14 and 21, Phelps County Commissioners:
• Heard from Sheran Ashby, Ashby Covenant Insurance, who presented information regarding health insurance renewals. The increase for renewal of the existing plan is 12 percent, reduced from the original renewal quote of 18 percent. Ashby also spoke on other plan options with higher deductibles. County employees must be notified by December 2 as to what their options are.
