Old Iron Works Days came to Maramec Spring Park over the weekend with a very large turnout. Weather worked both for and against the weekend’s activities, but numbers were good overall and the weekend went smoothly.

A Phelps County man is facing multiple felonies, including possession of child pornography, after an investigation by the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department.
New construction will be taxed differently under plan approved by commissioners
The Phelps County Commission has approved a new occupancy law that will change how residential properties are assessed for taxes. Starting next year, properties within the county will be assessed based on when they become occupied, instead of simply their value at the beginning of the year. Commissioners approved the law last week, which will take effect on January 1, 2015.
Maramec Spring hosting Old Iron Works Days this weekend
The 36th Annual Old Iron Works Days will return to Maramec Spring Park this Saturday and Sunday. Guests see the best crafts, trades and old-time representations of life in the 1800s as visitors are treated to a wide variety of activities from local artisans and entertainers.
‘Claire on Campus’ tour brings senator to S&T for discussion on combating sexual violence
As part of her “Claire on Campus” tour across the state, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill visited Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla Monday to talk directly with students, educators, and law enforcement from across the region on ways to combat sexual violence on campus—and get feedback on her bipartisan legislation to protect and empower students, and strengthen accountability and transparency for institutions.
