Lowell “Grandpa” Everett Baumbach

    Lowell “Grandpa” Everett Baumbach of Owensville, Missouri was born on May 10, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Oswald and Ruby (Garrett) Baumbach and passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

    He married Mary Louise Boyd on April 23, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri.
    He first served his country in the US Navy Reserves and later was drafted into the US Army to which he proudly served during the Korean War from 1953-1955.
    He worked at various places as an automotive mechanic including Gasconade County R-II School District bus barn. He also work at several drag strips and drag races. He enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball team. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching high school baseball games. He enjoyed camping and fishing, but most of all playing bottle caps and pitching horseshoes. He threw horseshoes in the fairs around the area for years until his health kept him from playing. He was most grateful that his whole family pitched horseshoes together. He was known by many others as “Grandpa” or “Pop”.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozzie and Ruby Baumbach; brother, Floyd Baumbach; son, Ricky Baumbach in infancy; and grandson, William “Scooter” Gauer.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Baumbach of the home; two daughters, Vickey Rose and husband Robert of New Florence, Missouri and Rebecca Joers and husband Ricky of Gerald, Missouri; one son, Douglas Baumbach and wife Brenda of Cuba, Missouri; sister, Vivian “Susie” Farris of Pevely, Missouri; seven sisters-in-law; 10 grandchildren, Khrystal (Gauer) Hagood, Tonya Bergesch, Joshua Joers, Amanda Joers, Courtney Baumbach, Ashley (Baumbach) Baldwin, Christopher Baumbach, Drew Baumbach, Jeneen (Rose) Osborne and Valerie Rose; 15 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the First Baptist Church in Owensville, Missouri with Rev. Kevin Sullivan and Brother Jack Hembree officiating.
    Burial with full military honors was at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
