Alderwoman questions decisions made outside council chambers

    Steelville Alderwoman Amanda Sherrill has questions about decisions being made without approval of the council. At the November 18 council meeting, she questioned a change made to the health insurance plan for city employees—a decision that altered what the council had previously voted on.

Steelville Ag program grows successful students

Students in Steelville are raising pigs, growing flowers and vegetables, fabricating metal benches and trailers, creating wood-burned tabletops, and more—all as part of the growing agriculture department in the Steelville School District.

Rescue Shelter fundraiser exceeds expectations

Sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures graced Crawford County on Saturday, November 9 when our community came together to support a worthy cause. A team of volunteers including Rosemary Woodward, founder of Santana's Hope 4 Paws non-profit 501(c)3, planned a benefit to raise funds for an animal shelter in Steelville. The brand-new facility will actually be the Steelville City Pound, and is to include space for the rescue organization Santana's Hope 4 Paws. We'll share more about the building later; but for now, just WOW did we ever have a successful turn out for the benefit!
