Walter Lee Earls

    Walter Lee Earls was born in rural St. James on October 16, 1926 to George Washington Anderson and Mamie Ellen (Gahr) Earls and passed away on March 18, 2019 at the age of 92 years.

    He attended Hale School in rural Phelps County and John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri.
    On September 5, 1948 he married Marian Cowan at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James, Missouri.  They were both graduates of the Class of 1945.
    Walter was stationed in the US Army in Heidelberg, Germany, as a Court Reporter in 1952-53.  When discharged, he went to Southwest Missouri State in Springfield and received his BS degree in Industrial Arts in 1957. He first taught in Pacific High School, Pacific, Missouri.  He then came to Rolla, Missouri and taught at the Junior High, Senior High and the Rolla Area Vocational-Technical School. In 1974 he received his Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was the Director of the Night Adult Basic Education Program for many years.
    After retiring in 1988 he enjoyed working on his farm south of Rolla, which was homesteaded by his great great grandparents.
    He was secretary-treasurer of Adams Cemetery Board.
    He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
    He is survived by his wife, Marian; children, Nancy Krost of Rolla, Missouri and Michael (Barti) Earls of Ballwin, Missouri;   grandchildren, Trevor Krost of Chicago, Illinois and Stacy Krost of Shenyang, China;  one brother of California; other relatives and friends.  
    Service as held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the  Christ Episcopal Church.
    Cremation arrangements under the direction of Rolla Cremation and Memorial in Rolla, Missouri.
