Daniel “Dan” William Hickey

    Daniel “Dan” William Hickey of Cook Station, Missouri was born on Friday, July 6, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri to Billy “Bill” Dean and Nancy Lee Burch Hickey and passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 18 days.

    Dan graduated from Cuba High School with the class of 1981. After school, he joined the Navy and honorably served.
    He married Debbie Lynn McCoy on January 1, 1982 in Cuba, Missouri at the 1st Assembly of God Church.
    He attended LSU Police Academy, Penn Valley Police Academy, RTI for EMT and Paramedic Training and received his Associates Degree from Linn Tech. He worked for Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri as a police officer until he retired in 2013. Dan was a member of the Flight deck VS-33 Screwbird squadron and was proud of his military background. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, mowing grass and BBQing.
    He and his wife Debbie looked for cemeteries for Find A Grave and enjoyed ghost hunting. Dan never met a stranger.
    He was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Nancy Hickey; his mother-in-law, Phyllis McCoy; and sister-in-law, Jan Hickey.
    He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hickey of Cook Station, Missouri; three daughters, Crystal Dawn Hickey of Overland Park, Kansas, Ashley Nicole (Cameron) Langley of Olathe, Kansas and Leanna Marie Hickey of Cook Station, Missouri; one grandson, William Ray Langley of Olathe, Kansas; three siblings, Joseph Hickey of Rolla, Missouri, David Hickey of Gonzales, Louisana and Karen (Bill) Vance of Eugene, Missouri; brother-in-law, Keith McCoy of Rolla, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Martha McCoy of Rolla, Missouri, Teresa (Audie) Stillwell of O’Fallon, Missouri and Lori Beth (TJ) Gray of Villa Rica, Georgia; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the  Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
    Celebration of Life was at 2 p.m. with Pastor Cindy Martin officiating and full military honors followed.
    The family chose cremation as his final disposition.
