Crawford County Sheriff Darin Layman praised the work of area law enforcement officers for the arrest of a Steelville man made on April 17. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group and Crawford County deputies. Layman stated, “As with many cases, it can take time and information to develop before a solid case can be built and acted upon. This case has been in process for several months and resulted in significant interruption to controlled substances peddled within our county. Great work by all.”
A Steelville man was arrested on Friday, April 19, as a result of the criminal investigation into a suspicious church fire the previous week. Ryan Eugene Radel, 28, had been evading law enforcement for several days before his arrest. He has not been charged with arson, but Radel faces charges for burglary and stealing of items inside the church just prior to the fire.
The Steelville Country Club hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt for local children on Saturday, April 13.
Students from Steelville Middle School enjoyed a variety of presentations about the time period of Laura Ingalls Wilder at the Steelville branch of the Crawford County Library District on Friday, April 5.
The Steelville Arts Council’s 6th Annual Art in the Park lived up to it's promise of creative fun for all ages. The event, held on Saturday, April 13 at the Steelville Community Park, featured a variety of great activities, delicious food, and wonderful art and crafts.
