Nancy Montgomery has been named the Executive Director of the St. James Caring Center by the St. James Caring Center’s Governing Board.
The St. James City Council met on Tuesday, April 9 to discuss several matters pertaining to the city. During the meeting, the council:
• Held a public hearing on a floodplain ordinance. The ordinance would update the city’s current code to meet state and federal guidelines. Public Works Director Lyle Thomas informed the council there is new mapping of the city is currently being conducted, but it won’t be ready until 2020.

St. James high and middle school choral students completed state contest, with several students earning honors for their efforts. Students competed in a variety of solos, ensembles, and larger choirs. Director Dustin Felan was excited about how students performed this year.

The St. James High School Scholar Bowl team had a tough time getting to several of its scheduled meets this season due to winter weather, but the squad turned in a fine performance at the Four-Rivers Conference tournament, taking fourth overall.
