Cuba KC hosting free throw shooting contest for kids

Can you hit shots from the free throw line as well as the NBA’s Steph Curry? The Cuba Knights of Columbus want to know what kids have the sweetest free throw shot in a competition to be held in the Cuba Elementary gym, and winners from several age categories will move on to compete in a district free throw shootout.

A basketball free throw shooting contest for boys and girls will take place in the Cuba Elementary gymnasium on Saturday, January 27 at 9 a.m. The contest is open to all youth from the area ages 9 to 14. Kids from Bourbon, Leasburg, Cuba, or Steelville are encouraged to enter the competition.
Registration for the contest will be held that morning from 9 to 10 a.m., with the shooting contest to follow. No contestants will be permitted to register after 10 a.m. Preregistration is available online at www.cubakofc.org/freethrow. Preregistered contestants will receive a free throw competition patch. A parent or guardian must attend the shootout with their child, and a birth certificate or other proof of age is necessary in order to participate.

Boy and girl winners in each age group will be eligible to move on to the district free throw shooting competition to be held in Sullivan in February. Winners from the district contest are automatically eligible to move on to the state championship shootout in March. Kids may only compete in one council level shootout.

The competition is being sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
