Steelville Arts Council plans a great 2018

The Steelville Arts Council is ready for 2018 with exhibits scheduled for Gallery Zeke, plans in place for Art in the Park, concerts on tap at the Meramec Music Theatre, and 40 artists already signed up for the annual Plein Air event in June.

The entire year’s schedule of Gallery Zeke exhibits is available at www.steelvilleartscouncil.org. Barb Bryan, the gallery curator, along with her committee, has put together a great series of art exhibits. The gallery opens with the Steelville High School Senior Art exhibit, from February 1- 24. It will be followed by the 5th Annual College Student Show from March 1 - 24. The exhibit titled Recycled Art III will be open from March 29 to April 28. New Gallery Zeke hours for 2018 are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 5th annual, family-friendly Art in the Park will be held at the Steelville Community Park on April 14. There will be food, entertainment and lots of interactive art activities for all ages. The chalk art contest and sandbox, along with inflatables, will again be featured as activities specifically designed for children. The event will also feature photography, woodcarving, pottery, quilts and more.

The new line-up of 2018 Meramec Music Theatre concerts is available at www.meramecmusictheatre.com. Highlights for this year include “A Tribute to Patsy Cline,” “Old Time Rock and Roll with Dawn Turlington and Vince Martin,” “Triumphant,” and “Dailey and Vincent.” These are just a few of the amazing entertainers to be featured in Steelville. Tickets may be ordered online or by calling Rosella Roberts at 573-775-2585.

The annual Plein Air event will be taking place once again from June 4-9.  Forty artists have already signed up for this amazing event and there is a limit of 50.  The interest from the artists for this event is a tribute both to the hardworking volunteers of the arts council and to the warm and welcoming hospitality the Steelville community and the surrounding communities of Cuba, St. James and greater Crawford County offer to artists and visitors alike.

The annual Plein Air Gala Dinner and Auction of the prize-winning paintings of the week will take place on June 8 at 6 p.m. at Belmont Vineyards. This venue is awesome and the owners overwhelmingly support STARCO’s mission of bringing art to the community. Plan now to attend for an amazing dinner, an awesome auction of spectacular art, great camaraderie and great fun. You don't want to miss the amazing talents of Miles Yeary who will emcee this event!

Many area businesses are super supporters of the Steelville Arts Council, and the board and volunteers are energized and encouraged by their support.  STARCO is a 501c3, non-profit organization.  For more information about events, becoming a member, volunteering, or exhibiting, check out the Steelville Arts Council Facebook page, email This email address is being protected from spambots.
