White arrested for statutory sodomy

On February 26, at approximately 1 p.m., a resident of St. James was arrested by the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Unit for seven counts of statutory sodomy, first-degree following an investigation of child sexual abuse.

On February 20, an investigation of alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile female was initiated by the Missouri Children’s Division and the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department. Probable cause of sexual abuse was established during a forensic interview of the victim. 

On February 26, the perpetrator was interviewed and subsequently arrested for seven counts of First Degree Statutory Sodomy. Jeffrey L. White Jr., age 27, who resides in St. James, Missouri, was arrested and incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail pending warrant application with the Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

On February 27, an arrest warrant was issued for the charges. His bond was set at $500,000.00

The charge for which White has been arrested is merely an accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
