Blanket raffle to benefit Montalbanos

A member of the Union High School FFA Chapter is raffling off a blanket this month, with 50 percent of the profits to be donated to help the Jake and Rebecca Montalbano family with medical bills related to their son’s illness.

Ethan Montalbano, age 11, has been diagnosed with leukemia and is currently undergoing treatment. The family will incur ongoing medical expenses related to his hospitalization, treatment plan, and travel expenses.

Miranda Blankenship, a UHS volleyball player and second-year FFA member, started MMB Blankets & More as a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project, which is designed to give students an opportunity to have hands-on experiences in the world. Blankenship is working toward her state degree and a proficiency award for her SAE project.

MMB Blankets & More offers handmade blankets that are raffled off to benefit area nonprofit groups and other special needs. A portion of each blanket sold by MMB Blankets & More is donated to groups in need.

Fifty percent of the profits from the May blanket raffle will directly benefit the Montalbano family with its medical bills for Ethan. Raffle tickets are $1 per single ticket or $5 for six tickets.
