The first Steelville Artist/Farmer Rendezvous will be held on Saturday, May 12, behind Turtle Earth Healing and Arts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This market is made possible through help from the Missouri University Extension, the Chamber of Commerce, the city of Steelville, and friends and volunteers of Turtle Earth Healing and Arts.
The rendezvous is one of the new events promoted by the Ozark Farmer & Artist Connect as a community-wide celebration of arts and local food culture. It will meet behind Turtle Earth, where the old city hall was located. It will feature fresh produce and ready to eat local food, in addition to craft and art vendors and live music.
At the same time as the outside event, the Ozark Potter’s Guild will present a break-out ceramic art show inside Turtle Earth Gallery, titled “Off the Wall.” The theme is ceramic art both on and off the wall, and visitors will have the opportunity to view and purchase new ceramic artwork from their favorite local ceramic artists, including Julie Brand, Kate Sachs, Rob Bowness, and Jamie Zane Smith. Enjoy light refreshments and live music, too.
Following the “Grand Opening” of the Steelville Artist/Farmer Rendezvous this weekend, the market will be open on the third Saturday of each month thereafter through October, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Third Saturdays also feature an Open Jam at the Steelville Arts Council’s Gallery Zeke, starting at 6 p.m.
Turtle Earth is located at 112 West Main Street in Steelville. For more details on both Ozark Farmer & Artist Connect events and Steelville Arts Council events, check out their Facebook pages.
