Maramec Spring Park is once again inviting veterans of area to enjoy Veterans Fishing Day on Saturday, June 16, 6:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Veterans get to fish for free and have free parking throughout the day.
The James Foundation, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), and Project Healing Waters sponsor the event, offering a wide variety of activities throughout the day. The upper half of the spring branch will be reserved for veterans fishing. Volunteers will be on hand to provide fishing classes and instruction as well.
Throughout the day, a raffle will be available for those interested in a chance to win items. Proceeds from the raffle benefit Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities, including education and outings.
