Susan Kay Mahan of Pomona, California was born Monday, June 15, 1964 at St. Louis, Missouri to Patricia Leavitt Mahan and passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Pomona, California at the age of 54 years.
Susan was the proud mom of Heather and Scott. Before her health began to decline, Susan worked on the farm and was a cook at different restaurants.
She was truly an outdoors person. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding and camping. She loved all animals, especially horses.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Leavitt Hatcher.
She is survived by her children, Heather Polk of Bourbon, Missouri and Scott Mahan of Licking, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Ragen, Myson, Brooklyn, Cheyenne, Alicia, Weston, Carter and Jaxon; two sisters, Deanna and husband Thomas Pogue of Cuba, Missouri and Lona and husband James Pogue of Cuba, Missouri; two brothers, James and wife Laura Mahan of Pacific, Missouri and Lonnie Mahan of Missouri; step dad, Gerald “Jerry” Hatcher of Cuba, Missouri; aunts, Vickie Leavitt of Pacific, Missouri and Pansley Helm of Robertsville, Missouri; uncle, Jim and wife Linda Leavitt of St. Louis, Missouri; companion, Patrick Strutman of Pomona, California; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Graveside service was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Boone Creek Cemetery, Licking, Missouri. Special music was “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “Dancing in The Sky.”
Pallbearers were Tony Gan-Drennen, Dustin Drennen, Carter Mahan, Randy Pogue, Austin Pogue, James Christensen and Eric Pogue.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
