Dan Franklin Thurman Sr. of Cuba, Missouri, was born on December 19, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Howard and Bessie (Chaffin) Thurman and passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Dan married Loetta Faye Hoch on August 31, 1953.
He was very devoted to his family. Dan worked as a police officer for many years and was Chief of Police of Bridgeton Terrace, Missouri. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 600 and worked for Pic Walsh Trucking.
Dan would also dress up as a clown and Santa for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He loved hunting, fishing and bowling.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Nelson; one son, Donald Thurman; a sister, Helen; and two brothers, Jim and John.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loetta F. Thurman; two children, Dianna Thurman of Davisville, Missouri and Dan F. Thurman Jr. (Kellie Hodges) of Cuba, Missouri; five grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Stacy, Jason and Jennifer; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan and Shirley; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Memorial service was held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Inurnment followed in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.
