Charlotte “Jean” Sanders

    Charlotte “Jean” Sanders (nee Wilkinson) of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, September 13, 1951 in Steelville, Missouri to Johnny “Tim” Laverne and Rilma Cottrell Wilkinson and passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 14 days.

    Jean lived briefly in Illinois with her family before moving back to Steelville, Missouri to attend Steelville High School.
    On April 8, 1967 Jean and Tom Sanders were the first couple to be married at Straightway Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri by Melvin Reed.
    Jean had worked for Brown Shoe in Steelville who sent her to college where she got a degree in accounting. She graduated with a 4.0 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. She later was an accountant clerk in the mental health industry for the State of Missouri for 17 years. She retired January 1, 2014 and since had enjoyed her time at home with her husband.
    She and Tom were members of Straightway Baptist Church in Steelville. She enjoyed deer hunting and going to deer camp. She loved camping at the Fish Trap, Copperhead Hole and Chester Brown’s place. Jean and Tom were involved in getting the diamonds in the baseball field and Thomas was part of getting the Steelville Stars Baseball Team started. She liked going to rodeos. She collected snowmen.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny “Tim” and Rilma Wilkinson; parents-in-law, Vernon and Agnes Sanders; sister-in-law, Jane (Bob) Richardson; brothers-in-law, Dale Stulce and Doyle Moutray; nephew, Johnathan Tucker; and niece, Penny Lee.
    She is survived by her husband, Tom Sanders of Steelville, Missouri; children, Lorie (Jake) Kanouse of Steelville, Missouri, Tommy (Randie) Sanders of Sullivan, Missouri, Doug (significant other Jennifer Smathers) Sanders of Pennsville, New Jersy and Sheri Sanders of Kirkwood, Missouri; grandchildren, Kati (Dustin) Alexander of Iberia, Missouri, Dylan (Jennifer) Sanders, Adam Bailey, Isaac Sanders, Layton Kanouse, Lane Kanouse, Laysyn Kanouse, all of Steelville, Missouri, Tanner Potter of Kirkwood, Missouri, Abbi-Jean Sanders, Izzabella Sanders and Grady Sanders of Pennsville, New Jersy, Cortland Kanouse and Delaney Kanouse, both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Cassie (Josh) Wineinger and Ashleigh (Casey) Johnson, all of Eureka, Missouri and Macie (Josh) Jenkins of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Dustin “Junior” and Averie Jean Alexander, both of Iberia, Missouri, Ridley Sanders of Steelville, Missouri, Olivia, Jaxson and Rylen Wineinger, Addie and Beau Johnson, all of Eureka, Missouri; brother, Ercil (Kathy) Wilkinson of La Grange, Kentucky; sisters, Vickie (Roy) Keyes of Mansfield, Missouri, Debra (significant other Fred) Wilkinson of Steelville, Missouri, Rena Stulce of Cuba, Missouri and Etta (Benny) White of St. James, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Fay Halbert, Sue Sanders, Mabel Moutray, all of Steelville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Estel (Violet “Sis”) Sanders of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Alan Miles and Bro. Bill Towns officiating.
    Burial was at the Straightway Baptist Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.
