James “Jim” Roscoe Harmon of Steelville, Missouri was born on Saturday, December 25, 1937 in Butts, Missouri to Colbert “Jewell” and Anna Belle McConell Harmon and passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 81 years and 5 days.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Steelville, Missouri. He attended Hangdog Grade School and later joined the Army Reserves.
He married Deloris “Dodie” Louise Harmon on October 21, 1956 in Steelville, Missouri.
He worked at the Missouri State Highway Dept. for 37 years as a shed foreman. He was a former member of the Coon Hunters Association. He had a band called Jim Harmon and the Crawford County Stringboys.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, riding in the VW Baja Buggy with Dodie, riding four-wheelers and side-by-sides. He liked meeting friends at the round table in Spare Rib at 2 p.m. every day. He loved deer hunting, fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris “Dodie” Louise Harmon; parents, Colbert Jewell and Anna Belle Harmon; parents-in-law, Bascom and Hazel Eaton Huff; step father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Huff; brothers, Ralph Harmon and Jessie (Ethel) Harmon; sister, Hallie (Orin) Key; brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” Eaton, Jim “Roscoe” Eaton and James “Red” (Pauline) Eaton; sisters-in-law, Anna Harmon and Marylou Harmon; great granddaughter, Sadie Summers; nephew, Dale Harmon; and great niece, Mindy Tarter.
He is survived by his children, Barb (Larry) Martin of Steelville, Missouri, Linda (Derrick) Douros of Charleston, Illinois, Brenda Brooks and Jimmy C. (Susan) Harmon, all of Steelville, Missouri; grandchildren, Todd (Carissa) Martin, Sonny (Andrea) Martin, Stacy (Ronnie) Mason, all of Steelville, Missouri, Heath (Amanda) Stites of Farmington, Missouri, Tommy (Heidi) Brooks of San Diego, California, Becky (Kerry Jr.) Summers, Lance (Shannon) Harmon and Lucas (Kaitlin) Harmon, all of Steelville, Missouri; great grandchildren, Holly Martin and Caleb Martin of Steelville, Missouri, Levi Martin, Anna Martin and Emma Martin of Steelville, Missouri, Carter Mason and Cami Mason of Steelville, Missouri, Philip Stites of Owensville, Missouri, Abby Hogan of Farmington, Missouri, Kensi Brooks of San Diego, California, Madison Summers of St. James, Missouri, Hunter Summers, Bryer Summers and Paislee Summers of Steelville, Missouri, Flint Harmon of Steelville, Missouri and Lucy Harmon of Steelville, Missouri; great great granddaughter, Peyton Warren of St. James, Missouri; brothers, Ervin Harmon of Berryman, Missouri and Alvin (Linda) Harmon of Festus, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Lavonda “Mert” (Barry) White of Steelville, Missouri, Judy Eaton of Crestwood, Missouri and Deloris Siders of Festus, Missouri; special family friend Shirley Westrup of Davisville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Larry Martin officiating.
Burial was at the Steelville Cemetery with full military honors.
