School board votes to demolish old school and make upgrades to downtown campus

In spite of a last-minute plea to consider saving the old middle school building, the Steelville School Board voted on January 17 to demolish the old structure and move forward with plans to update the downtown campus of the school district. Part of that plan includes a no-tax-increase bond issue on the April ballot to help fund the upgrades.
