Betty Lou Stewart of Rolla, Missouri was born in Rolla, Missouri on April 16, 1932 to Everett “Lee” and Julia (Woods) Stewart and passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the age of 86 years.
After graduating high school, Betty traveled to New York where she attended flight attendant school. She later became an airline stewardess for Capital and United Airlines, where she traveled the world for many years.
When Betty was not flying she was a model for department stores on the east coast of Virginia. She eventually made her way back to Missouri where she was involved in sales careers such as Mary Kay, AAA and the Ad Tracker.
She enjoyed hosting dinner parties, listening to the musical rhythms of Latin, jazz and big band, quilting, nautical puzzles and nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Julia Stewart; her brother, Bob Stewart; and sister, Mary Ellen (Stewart) Watson.
She is survived by her brother, Sidney Stewart and wife Darlene of Dixon, Missouri; sons, Stewart Pope and wife Jennie of St. James, Missouri and Shawn P. Pope of Missouri; grandchildren, Jaime Rizo and husband Roberto of Holts Summit, Missouri, Shawn D. Pope and fiancée Gena of Chesapeake, Virginia, Laura Johnson and husband Kyle of Rolla, Missouri and Ryan Pope of Ozark, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Sophia Pope, Samuel Johnson, and Nora Johnson; other relatives and friends.
Betty’s wishes were to be cremated with a private service.
