Kindergarten Round-up

The Iron County C-4 School District’s annual Kindergarten Round-up for the 2019-2020 school year will be held on Wednesday, April 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and, Thursday, April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The screenings will be held at the First Baptist Church in Viburnum located on the corner of Highway 49 and Airport Road. Children who will be five years old before August 1 should register at this time.

At the kindergarten registration, a series of short tests will be given. These tests are useful in helping the kindergarten teachers know what skills to teach your child next fall.

Remember to bring with you to registration your child’s state-issued birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and proof of residency. These items are important to properly enroll your child. Please have your child up to date on immunizations before round-up.
The school immunization rule has been revised. Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the following requirements were implemented: A second dose of varicella (chicken pox) vaccine for all children entering kindergarten must have been administered. If the child has had varicella (chicken pox) disease, a licensed doctor of medicine (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) may sign, and place on file with the school, a written statement documenting the month and year of previous varicella (chicken pox) disease as satisfactory evidence of having had the disease. Parental or guardian statements of the disease are no longer acceptable.
