Bourbon Senior Center Activities

On March 21 the Bourbon Senior Center celebrated monthly birthdays and anniversaries. There were no anniversaries, but Melba Sanders, George Littrell and Gary Railings celebrated their birthdays.

Meals are served Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except holidays). No reservations are needed. All individuals 60 years of age or older and their spouse, regardless of age, are eligible to participate all for a donation of $4. The program also has a home-delivered meal program for those individuals that are unable to attend the congregate program. If interested in this program please call Kristi or Angie at 573-732-4268. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated the third Thursday of every month. Come in and enjoy live music every Monday and bingo on Tuesdays and Fridays starting at 10:45 a.m. Board games and card games are available for fun on Wednesday and Thursdays. Bring your friends and come and enjoy the fellowship at the center.
Next month the Bourbon Senior Center looks forward to Easter dinner and basket drawings on April 19. Plan on attending this joyous celebration.
Did you know? Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Christian religion. Eggs have been seen as ancient symbol of fertility, while springtime is considered to bring new life and rebirth. Americans spend $1.9 billion on Easter candy.  70% of Easter candy purchased is chocolate. According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.” Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs.
Come in and see why the Bourbon Senior Center program has the best supervisor and volunteers that work to make every participant welcome as a member of the family.
