Bruce Alan Brown

Bruce Alan Brown of Cuba, Missouri was born in Rolla, Missouri on September 5, 1955 to Sidney and Marilyn (Prewett) Brown and passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the age of 63 years.

Bruce was a graduate of John F. Hodge High School Class of 1973 in St James, Missouri.
He married Sue Ann Stewart on October 19, 1974.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman, he took his love and respect for nature and wildlife, and turned it into a 31 year career with the Missouri Department of Conservation.  Bruce worked as a Fisheries Management Technician and then as a Wildlife/Forestry Technician.    It was his joy to share his knowledge, not only with his family and friends, but with anyone he came in contact with.  He was a true “hunter, gatherer” and there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing his catch of the day with a big fish fry, with himself serving as the cook.
Bruce never met a stranger.  He could work the room with his quick wit and funny one liners and made everyone feel like family.  Bruce was a proud “PaPa” to eight grandchildren and he took on the grandpa role as he did everything else in his life, with a passion and a purpose.  Making sure he was teaching them about the outdoors, just as he had his own children.  He took great pride in sharing their hunting and sports stories and pictures with anyone who would listen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Brown; sister-in-law, Rosa Brown; in-laws, Oran and Eva Stewart; brother-in-law Richard Stewart; sister-in-law, Judy Stewart; and cousin and great friend, John Hodge.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sue Ann Brown of Cuba, Missouri; mother, Marilyn Brown of St. James, Missouri; children, Jason Brown and wife Sheila of Prairie Home, Missouri, Josh Brown and wife Shannon of Cuba, Missouri, Jordan Brown and fianceé Justine Minzey of Montesano, Washington and Kaitlin Brown of Cuba, Missouri; brothers, Bryan Brown and wife Roberta of St. James, Missouri and Stewart Brown of Edgar Springs, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tucker, Kennedy, Madison, Cooper, Caleb, Miley, Thomas and Tanner; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.
