Winford “Wimpy” Cowell Sellers of Steelville, Missouri was born on Sunday, November 23, 1947 in Steelville, Missouri to Homer Theodore and Ruth Elma Eaton Sellers and passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Wimpy grew up in Steelville, Missouri and attended Steelville Schools and later Valley Park Schools. He lived in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for 20 years and then moved back to Steelville in 1989. He accepted the Lord early in life and attended several Pentecostal churches over the years.
He worked as an over the road truck driver for a while until he began working at KR Wilson in Sullivan, Missouri as a concrete plant manager. Wimpy was an avid hunter. He used to have hunting dogs and used to raise pheasants. He loved the outdoors, hunting for mushrooms and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Ray Garms; special aunt, Gladys (Sellers) Terry; and special uncle, Clyde Sellers.
He is survived by his parents, Homer (Betty) Sellers of Berryman, Missouri and Ruthie Garms of Steelville, Missouri; children, Laurie (Steve) Finch of Blaine, Minnesota, Jody (Amber) Sellers of West Monroe, Louisana, Gina (Rickey Jr.) Spurgeon of Doolittle, Missouri, Harold “Dean” (Jane) Roper of O’Fallon, Missouri and Jimmy (Sherry) Roper of Steelville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Allyson Finch of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Mason (Ashlee) Roper of Buckeye, Arizona, Madyson Roper of Steelville, Missouri, Hannah Roper of San Antonio, Texas, Ryan Roper of O’Fallon, Missouri, Michael Bulhoes and Brayden Spurgeon, both of Doolittle, Missouri; three great grandchildren; brothers, Homer “Dewayne” Sellers and Lindell (Anita) Sellers, both of Steelville, Missouri; former daughter-in-law, Tara Richter Hamilton of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Burial was at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Dillard, Missouri.
Pallbearers Brian Sellers, Austin Sumpter, Steve Finch, Rickey Spurgeon, Jimmy Woods and Tristan Woods.
