Hester Marie Sanders


    Hester Marie Sanders (nee Earney) of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday, May 5, 1941 in Steelville, Missouri to Treff Olden Sr. and Norma Lee Gilmore Earney and passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 20 days.


    Hester attended Steelville Schools.  
    She married Howard Willis Sanders on December 22, 1956 in Steelville, Missouri.
    She accepted the Lord early in life, was a member of Steelville First Assembly of God and loved to read her bible.  Hester was a Missionette Teacher at the Steelville First Assembly of God and worked as their church secretary for many years.
    Hester worked at the Crawford County Collector’s Office for a number of years under Bill Bouse and Danny Gladden. She cleaned offices and at one time had worked at the dime store downtown in Steelville. She also used to have a ceramic store in their home and taught classes three nights a week. Hester volunteered to take people places and always visited with friends and family when they were sick. She liked to watch Little House on the Prairie and Wheel of Fortune.
    She loved BBQ and her flowers.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Treff Sr. and Norma Earney; parents-in-law, Willis “Ray” and Selma (Eckstein) Sanders; daughter, Luecinda “Cindy” Moreland; sisters, Alline (“Sody” Isadore) Finocchiaro and Vivian (Jack) Barr; brothers-in-law, Dwayne (Betty) Sanders, Russel Sanders and Dusty Frank; sisters-in-law, Hazel (Raymond) Potter and Edna Earney; and cousin, Paul Sanders.
    She is survived by her husband, Howard Sanders of Steelville, Missouri; sons, Keith (Michelle) Sanders of Steelville, Missouri and Kevin (Kimberly) Sanders of Cuba, Missouri; son-in-law, Larry Moreland of Steelville, Missouri; grandchildren, John Richards of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Nathan (fiancée Lillie) Richards, Jessica Moreland, both of Steelville, Missouri, Lennie Moreland, Elizabeth (Christopher) Freeman, Benjamin (Melissa) Sanders, all of Sullivan, Missouri, Tyler Sanders of Steelville, Missouri, Talisa (Jeff) Griefe of Beaufort, Missouri, Charles (Emily) Bone of St. Ann, Missouri, Brian (Ashley) Bone of Arnold, Missouri, Rachelle Christopher of Cuba, Missouri, Kayla Christopher, Jaime (Ryan) Evans, both of Steelville, Missouri, Jorden Backes, Jackalyn Backes, both of Cuba, Missouri and Logan Burke of St. Louis, Missouri; siblings, Bob (Olga) Earney, Lloyd “Red” (Charlotte) Earney, Esther Frank and Treff Jr. (Sandy) Earney, all of Steelville, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Glen (Pat) Sanders of Springfield, Missouri and Vernon (Shirley) Sanders of St. Louis, Missouri; 27 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the First Assembly of God Church, Steelville, Missouri.
    Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
    The family chose cremation as Hester’s final disposition and she will be buried at Steelville Cemetery at a later date.
