Love your pet? Would you like to have a drawing or painting done of them? Well, now is your chance! Steelville Arts Council will host a pet portraiture commission art show titled “Cats & Dogs; Horses & Cows! Oh! My!” this year at Gallery Zeke on Main Street. This exhibit will run from May 16 to 25 with an opening reception on Saturday, May 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. to meet and greet the artists.
The arts council has invited four artists to display from three to eight drawings or paintings they have done of pets, including cats, dogs, horses, cows and even emus. Along with the portraitures, the council has asked them to post what it would cost for a patron to commission them to draw or paint their pet in a comparable manner and size. The artist will also let the patron know approximately how long it will take for them to complete the commission.
So, bring in your favorite photo of your pet, decide which artist and style you would like, and commission that artist to do a one-of-a-kind drawing or painting of your beloved pet.
This exhibit will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Gallery Zeke is located at 106 Main Street in Steelville.
Steelville Arts Council was created in 2010 as a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Its mission is to promote arts in the community through awareness, appreciation, education and support; creating a connection between artists and audiences to enrich the quality of life for all.
