Opal Mae Hart of Vichy, Missouri was born on July 18, 1925 in Vichy, Missouri to Oscar and Rosa (Weaver) Honey and passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the age of 93 years.
She Richard Hart in the spring of 1942. They celebrated 63 years at the time of Richard’s passing in 2005.
Opal was a longtime member of the Vichy Community Church and enjoyed attending regularly until her health no longer permitted.
She enjoyed being outdoors sitting on her porch swing, watching the flowers that she had so carefully planted, grow and bloom each year. She also really loved planning her garden each spring. She would plan the garden so that she could can and freeze the fruits of her labor, so that they could be enjoyed by family and friends all year long. She made jams and jellies and cooked up big meals for all the holidays and Sunday suppers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Rosa Honey; her husband Richard; sons, David and Kenneth Hart; and her 11 siblings.
She is survived by her children, Paul Hart and wife Becky of Vichy, Missouri, Oscar Hart and wife Barbara of Vichy, Missouri and Jama Briggs and fianceé Bruce Rench of Belle, Missouri; grandchildren, Jasmine Hart, Haley Hart, Collin Curtis (Gabriela), Shawn Curtis (Danielle) and Ashley Hart; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri with Pastor Gary Lane officiating.
Interment was at the Macedonia Cemetery.
