Dennis Lynn Ray of Clovis, New Mexico was born on Saturday, September 19, 1953 in Granite City, Illinois to Sherman Lee Ray and Geraldine Alice Wretling Ray and passed away in Clovis, New Mexico on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 14 days.
Dennis served his country honorably in the United States Air Force retiring as Master Sergeant after completing a 24 year career. He then taught public school for 16 years in Clovis, New Mexico.
He married Sharon Crowder on March 25, 1972 at First United Baptist Church in Staunton, Illinois.
Dennis enjoyed woodworking, biking, shooting his guns and putting together model cars. He liked playing volleyball and softball and was always eager to play on community sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman; son, Christopher Ray; and sister, Bonnie Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ray of Clovis, New Mexico; daughters, Sarah (Andy) Stubbs of Portales, New Mexico, April (Terry) Ray-Obermier of Mary Esther, Florida and Catherine Ray of Okaloosa Island, Florida; son, Steven (Celica) Ray of Dalhart, Texas; mother, Geraldine Ray of Pocahontas, Illinois; sisters, Annette (Keith) Milton of Worden, Illinois and Susan (Neil) Sperandio of Pocahontas, Illinois; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 with funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Ray Snider officiating.
Burial was at the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Andrew Stubbs, Samuel Marquez, Jacob Sperandio, Neil Sperandio, Daniel Ray and Nelson Flores.
