Thomas Spurgeon LaPlant of Steelville, Missouri was born July 10, 1932 in Steelville to Albert and Effie Lee Halbert LaPlant and passed away Saturday, August 03, 2019 at the age of 87 years.
In 1950 he married Mary Lou Bobbitt in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
Tom had been a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Many years ago he worked for Tommy Halbert as an ambulance driver. Tom was employed at General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri retiring after 32 years. He enjoyed attending the steam engine and thresher association events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Effie LaPlant; his wife, Mary Lou; and one son, Thomas Spurgeon LaPlant Jr.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Seep of Robertsville, Missouri and Melinda Holohan of High Ridge, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brian Weddington, Thomas Holohan Jr., Malisa Thomas, Ronald McKnight, Sarah Spaeth and Hillary Bourner; eight great grandchildren, Davian Weddington, J.P. Bourner, Ava Spaeth, Cal Thomas, Masin Thomas, Jack Thomas, Kayleigh McKnight and Brooke Spaeth; one brother, William LaPlant and wife Geneva of Alton, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services were held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 with Bill Bennett officiating.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Eric Spaeth, Thomas Bourner, Brian Weddington, J.T. Ransom, Blaine Parrett and Terry Beckham.
