Donald Ray Casteel of Rolla, Missouri was born on July 18, 1942 to Vernie and Arminta Young Casteel and passed away on August 4, 2019 at the age of 77 years and 17 days.
He married Vicki Charlene Kamper Sarchette on July 17, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma.
The world lost a special man. One that had the dirtiest of jokes and the biggest of hearts! His love and dedication to his country and family could not be measured. A proud Marine, Retired Post Master with US Postal Service, retired from the Color Guard, Father and adoptive father, and who volunteered many years after retirement with the Color Guard only stopping when his body would not physical allow him to do anymore. He was one of a kind and they are not made like him anymore.
He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Kenny Griffith.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Charlene Kamper Casteel of Rolla, Missouri; mother of the children, Betsey Graham Casteel; children, John Jason Casteel and wife Lori of Liberty, Missouri, Jill Casteel and husband Jody of Columbia, Missouri, Steven Casteel and wife Samantha of Jefferson City Missouri, David Woodrow Casteel of Fayette, Missouri and Kayla Austin and husband Scott of St. Clair, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Casteel and wife Carolyne of Ferguson, Missouri and Frank Casteel and wife Sue of Mehlville, Missouri; sister, Shirley Griffith of Afton, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2019 with Doug Williams officiating.
Burial with full military honors was in the High Gate Baptist Church Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri.
