2019 Harvest Festival parade information released

The 55th Annual Harvest Festival Parade in Steelville is Saturday, September 7, at 1:30 p.m. The parade theme this year is “Once Upon A Dream.” The parade is sponsored by the Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce and floats for organizations, businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate.

The annual parade will close Highway 8/19 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on September 7. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for the closure and make alternate travel plans as necessary. The parade will follow the same route as in previous years, starting at the Steelville Elementary and Middle schools, continuing down Main Street and ending at the three-way stop by Auction Auto Sales.
The deadline to register for the parade is Thursday, September 5. Entry forms can be completed by entrants on the day of the parade, as long as all rules and regulations are met, but they will not be considered for judging. Applications are available at FCNB and Peoples Bank, as well as online at www.steelvillechamber.com or facebook.com/steelvillechamber.
The parade line up begins at 12:30 p.m. with judging at 1 p.m. First-, second- and third-place awards will be given to business floats, organization floats, original cars and modified cars, as well as the grand champion float overall. All bicycles will receive a participation ribbon.
Due to the demolition project on the school grounds, the parade lineup will change this year. All floats and marchers will line up in the Steelville Elementary School parking lot. All heavy equipment and emergency vehicles and bands will line up at the parking lot in front of the new bus shed. All entries will enter the parade using the Elementary School entrance onto Highway 8/19.
Bikes, politicians, queen candidates and other royalty will enter the parade from the superintendent’s parking lot (Early Childhood Center). Classic cars will line up on Euclid Street. Horses and wagons will line up in front of the Crawford County Shed on Euclid Street. Negative Coggins will be required for all horses. Riding of ATVs, UTVs or motorcycles are allowed if sponsored by a business or organization that meets the parade entry requirements.
Parade entries are limited to Steelville area residents, businesses, Ozark Trailblazers members, River Valley Rod Association members and Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce members. Each group or individual will be limited to one entry per party or business, including political parties and heavy equipment.
For safety’s sake, those wishing to dispense items will provide two adults on foot to act as “safety marshals.” Those not meeting safety requirements will not be admitted to the parade. Candy treats will be allowed, but must be done in a non-hazardous manner, with no overhand or hard throwing of items.
