Harvie G Thomas of St. James, Missouri was born on July 3, 1922 in Irondale, Missouri to Wilburn A and Eva (Beers) Thomas and passed away on October 7, 2019 at the age of 97 years.
Harvie proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII at Pearl Harbor.
On January 2, 1946 he married Miss Verena Chapman.
He worked at Missouri S &T in Rolla, Missouri as a laborer, he retired after 16 years of service.
Harvie loved being on the Current River, just relaxing, taking in the beauty of his surroundings. In the 1950’s Harvie and Verena owned the Frosty Treat in Salem, Missouri. After he retired he spent his days fishing and gardening, something he has loved all his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verena in 2002; parents, Wilburn and Eva Thomas; brothers, Earl and Herman Thomas; and sisters, Marie Warden, Violet Jacobs, Kathern Barr, and Mae Dockins.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Thomas and wife Angela of Walland, Tennessee; brother, Elwood Thomas of Belgrade Missouri; sisters, Lurie Belfield of Belleview, Missouri and Mary Martin of Clovis, California; grandchildren, Josiah, Ashlyn and Hannah; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Salem James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Salem James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri with Pastor David Gidcumb officiating.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Interment with full military honors was at the Sligo Cemetery.
