Sam William Sykes of Bourbon, Missouri was born on May 14, 1986 in Rolla, Missouri to Anthony “Sonny” and Bridget Joann (Bolbat) Sykes and passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the age of 33 years.
He attended Sullivan Schools and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years.
Sam married Betsy Bouckaert on October 1, 2011.
Sam was a proud member of the IBEW Local 2. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his work as a groundman operator.
Sam was a free spirit who enjoyed making people laugh. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gigging. Sam had received Christ as his Savior and was baptized this past year at the Ridge Church in Sullivan, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sonny Sykes; and his grandfather, Leonard Bolbat.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy (Bouckaert) Sykes of Bourbon, Missouri; four children, Luke, Maddie, Piper and Emilia, all of the family home; his mothers, Bridget Sykes and Marianne Fabiano of Union, Missouri; two brothers, Eric Shumaker of Chicago, Illinois and Anthony Sykes of Washington, Missouri; one sister, Onna Sykes of Sullivan, Missouri; grandmother, Anna Mae Bolbat of Chicago, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Ridge Church in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Ridge Church in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Matt Dudley officiating.
