Simon Siebert, a senior at Cuba High School Class, has signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Oklahoma City University Track and Field Program in the Fall of 2020. Oklahoma City University (OCU) is renowned for their academic and athletic programs.
Siebert will be joining a University that has claimed the Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup title for three consecutive years with its national finishes across its intercollegiate sports. The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup is awarded annually to the nation's best overall collegiate athletics program. In 1993, USA Today and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) jointly launched the Directors' Cup and it has since grown into a highly recognized mark of distinction among collegiate institutions.
In November, the OCU Stars captured their fifth NAIA men's cross-country championship at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. This national title was the University’s 69th national championship in all sports and continues the institution’s national championship streak. The Stars have now won a national championship for the 27th year in a row, continuing a streak that dates to 1993-94. When offered an athletic scholarship, the coaches at OCU told Siebert, “We liked your personality. That means the most to us when looking at people to join our team.”
Siebert will be attending the Meinders School of Business majoring in business administration and marketing. Last fall, Siebert applied and competed for the institution’s prestigious Meinders Business Leadership Fellows Program, a program that provides a full-tuition scholarship and co-curricular activities for high-achieving, full-time freshmen. Applicants were put through a rigorous, competitive process that included submitting an application and resume for review, writing a lengthy essay, and participating in an on-campus interview with the Business Department Faculty and Administration. In December, Siebert was notified of his unanimous selection for admittance into the Meinders Business Leadership Fellows Program.
The Meinders School of Business is an AACSB accredited program and ranks in the top 4.5 percent of business schools worldwide. Oklahoma City University is a coeducational, urban private university located in Oklahoma City, in the Uptown District. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and offers a wide variety of degrees in the liberal arts, fine arts, sciences and business. OCU is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the country by U.S. News & World Report, and Oklahoma City University
