Ruth A´Lake Haley (nee Cotner) of Arnold, Missouri was born on January 9, 1927 in Sligo, Missouri and passed away January 10, 2020 at the age of 93 years and 1 day.
She was a dedicated school teacher. She first taught in rural Dent and Crawford counties. She was later encouraged to relocate to Arnold and teach with the Fox C-6 School District after graduating from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. She solidified her teaching career with the Windsor C-1 School District and retired there as a fifth grade teacher in 1989, rounding out 45 years of education.
She took great pride in her home and enjoyed feeding the birds, gardening, playing the organ and visiting. She also made many friends selling Avon for decades.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Ethel E. (nee Butts) Cotner; siblings, Delmar (Violet) Cotner, Laverne (Corbett) Gregory, Fern (George Hutson) and (Leroy Hanson) Hutson-Hanson; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Haley.
She is survived by children, Larry Ross (Bobbie Sue Stone) Haley of Eddyville, Kentucky, Donna Ruth Polizzi of Fenton, Missouri and Martha Kay Proffitt of Arnold, Missouri; grandchildren, Matthew Haley, Timothy (Molly) Haley, Jacob Haley, Melina (Steven) Ulrich, Angela Polizzi, Amanda (Mac) Cullin, Anna Polizzi and Anthony Polizzi; great grandchildren, Alex and Stephen Haley, Savannah Polizzi, Cannon and Henry Haley, Aubrey and Stella Ulrich, Logan Willunut and Lina and Michael Cullen; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. at the Heilitag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home in Arnold, Missouri.
Funeral services was Wednesday, January 15 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of the Heilitag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home in Arnold, Missouri.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sligo Cemetery in Sligo, Missouri.
