Mason Jay Alan Smith of Bourbon, Missouri was born March 20, 1998 in Rolla, Missouri to Jason Smith and Mandy Walbrecht and passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the age of 21 years.
He grew up and attended school in Bourbon, Missouri, graduating from Bourbon High in 2016.
Mason began working at an early age. Throughout high school, he was employed with Steak ’n Shake in Sullivan, Missouri and in the summer time he enjoyed his lawn mowing business.
After graduation, Mason attended Rolla Technical Institute. In 2018 he graduated with an HVAC certification and began working as an apprentice. Most recently, he had been working construction with his soon-to-be brother-in-law, Nathan Labbee.
Mason loved riding ATVs and dirt bikes. He was a huge fan of the outdoors and enjoyed camping. He was fond of listening to his music and had a hidden talent for drawing pictures.
Mason was a member of First Baptist Church of Bourbon, Missouri and was baptized there.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William “Bill” Walbrecht and Tex Smith; and cousin, Blake Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Mandy Smith of Sullivan, Missouri and Jason Smith of Bourbon, Missouri; sister, Makayla Smith and fiancé, Nathan Labbee of Bourbon, Missouri; grandmothers, Betty Walbrecht of Bourbon, Missouri, Carol Smith of Lemay, Missouri and Shirley Smith of Bourbon, Missouri; special nephew and niece, Troy and Blakely Labbee of Bourbon, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Michelle (Ben) Yocom of Milan, Missouri, Billy (Sheila) Walbrecht of Union, Missouri, Mark Smith of Bourbon, Missouri and Julie Smith of Piedmont, Missouri; cousins, Drake Arnold and fiancée Caitie Leithead of Mary Esther, Florida and Brynna Yocom of Adel, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, Missouri with Mason’s uncle, Dr. Ben Yocom, officiating.
Burial was at the Bourbon Cemetery, in Bourbon, Missouri.
