Winter weather caused the postponement of Steelville High School’s Homecoming, originally scheduled for Friday, January 17. The new date is Friday, February 7, and the boys basketball teams will play Bourbon, with games beginning at 5:30 p.m., and coronation of the king and queen will take place between the JV and varsity games.
Candidates for SHS Homecoming king and queen this year are seniors Seth Barton and Madison Housewright, juniors Levi Gray and Laine Cottrell, sophomores Sophie Case and Tyler Davis, and freshmen Courtney Diaz and Kyle Killeen.
SHS Student Council President Rylee Mabe and Student Council President-Elect Grace Bair will serve as masters of ceremony for the evening. The prince and princess will be Elaina Turnbough and Merl Vetter. The theme for SHS Homecoming 2020 is "Around the World."
Leading up to the event, students have been encouraged to participate in the following school spirit dress-up days: Monday—Hat Day, Tuesday—Color War (boys in blue and green, girls in pink and purple), Wednesday—Crazy Socks, Thursday—Jersey/ Favorite Sports Team, Friday—Red and White Day.
