Cuba police officer shot, suspect killed on Saturday - UPDATED

Cuba Police Chief Doug Shelton has reported that today (Feb. 8) at about 1:30 p.m., a Cuba Police Officer responded to a residence in the City Limits of Cuba for the report of a domestic disturbance.

Upon his arrival, the Officer made entry to the house in an attempt to make contact with a male subject who was reported to be in possession of a firearm. Shots were fired at the Officer by the male subject and the Officer was struck in the leg
 The Officer returned fire, striking the subject. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene and the Officer was transported by helicopter to obtain medical attention for his injuries.
The Officer’s injuries are considered to be non life threatening. Names of the parties involved are being withheld at this time, pending a full investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
