Richard Prugh of Salem, Missouri was born on March 18, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Henry and Bertha Ludwig Prugh and passed away on February 17, 2020 at the age of 88 years.
Richard married Norma Jean Sutterfield on February 14, 1954.
Richard graduated from Bunker High School. After graduation he attended college in Warrensburg, Missouri. A honored Army veteran, Richard served during the Korean War.
Richard taught school and coached basketball at Des Arc, Potosi and Ironton Schools. As time went on, he worked at the St. Louis Post Dispatch as a district manager for many years. He retired and moved back to Salem, Missouri and worked with the Current River Parks Dept. He also owned and operated Mr. Swiss Restaurant in Salem, Missouri for many years. Richard loved fishing in his pond, gardening and staying on his place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha Ludwig Prugh; wife, Norma Jean Prugh on March 9, 2006; daughter, Myra Prugh and brother, Bill Prugh.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy Rodriguez and husband Pete of Big Spring Texas, Cheryl Davis of Rolla, Missouri, Cammie Morrison of Rolla, Missouri, and Terri Prugh of Salem, Missouri; siblings, Jim Prugh and wife Jewel and Pat Baum all of Salem, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon on February 19, 2020 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at noon on Wednesday February 19, 2020 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri with Pastor Jim Fulk officiating.
Interment was in the West Fork Sutterfield Cemetery with full military honors.
