St. James boys and girls headed to district championship games

    The St. James boys and girls basketball teams will be playing for district championship on Friday night. After the Lady Tigers won their semifinal game on Tuesday, the Tigers won Wednesday night to reach the finals.

    The STJ boys easily defeated Willow Springs 64-35 in the semifinals to advance to Friday’s championship game against Ava, which got past Liberty 71-49 in the other semifinal game Wednesday evening.
    On Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers came from behind late to defeat Liberty 58-54. The win put them in the championship game against Licking, which defeated Ava 58-29 in the other semifinal game.
    Friday’s finals, which are being played at Mountain Grove, will begin with the girls title game at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.
    If the St. James teams win the district titles, they will take on the Class 3 District 3 tournament winners in Rolla on Wednesday, March 4, at Missouri S&T. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow at 7:45 p.m.
    In the Class 3 District 3 title games, which are being played in Herculaneum on Friday, Steelville will take on Grandview for the girls title and Steelville will play St. Pius X in the boys championship game.
