Anna Mae Vance


    Anna Mae Vance (nee Gillam) of Steelville, Missouri was born August 22, 1935 in Courtois, Missouri to Cloan and Clara Keffer Gillam and passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 21 days.


    Anna Mae married Eugene “Gene” Vance on July 23, 1955 at Shoal Creek, Missouri.
    Anna Mae had attended Lookout Assembly at Czar, Missouri for many years. She worked for several years as a cook in Viburnum, Missouri restaurants and at Eagle Hurst.  She was known for good cooking and her fried pies and chicken and dumplings were always enjoyed by the family. She enjoyed making a garden and tending to her flowers.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Cloan and Clara Gillam; her husband Gene Vance; one daughter, Ella Jo (David) Greenwalt; son-in-law, Kevin Medley; five brothers, Homer Gillam, Herman (Claudia) Gillam, Loman (Shirley) Gillam, Howard (Shirley) Gillam and Purn Gillam; six sisters, Ona (Scott) Britton, Irene (Arlie) Blair, Alene (Arthur) Draper, Lucille (Vincent) Reeves, Bessie (Eddie) Henslee and Thelma (George) Maxwell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale Vance, Robert Vance, Lester Vance, Thomas Vance, Elsie (Clyde) Hill, Esther (Bill) Clonts and Lee (John) Kearney.
    She is survived by three sons, Frank (Darla) Vance of Cherryville, Missouri, Ronnie (Laura) Vance of Hermann, Missouri and Herman (Darlene) Vance of Steelville, Missouri; five daughters, Lena Medley of Belgrade, Missouri, Ethel (Wayne) Medley of Bixby, Missouri, Fay (Larry) Conduitt of Cuba, Missouri, Anna (Rick) Edgar of Steelville, Missouri and Fern (Rodney) Conaway of Steelville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Delores Gillam of Davisville, Missouri and Lottie Vance of Steelville, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 with Evangelist Ronnie Dean Raven and Rev. Ronnie Chandler officiating. Special music of "Come Spring" was sung by Jess and Sharon Hedrick. Other musicOther music of “Go Rest High” was played from a prerecording sung by the late Stanley Chandler.
    Committal prayer and interment were in the Czar Cemetery in Viburnum, Missouri.
    Casket bearers were grandchildren, Blake Vance, Lee Vance, Keith Vance, Adam Thomas, Alan Edgar, Curtis Medley, Chris Greenwalt and Daulton Conaway.
