Jesus. Can we even begin to comprehend what He has done for us? His death on the cross is one of the most painful ways a person can die, yet He gave His life on the cross for us.
Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin came into the world and is still here. Because we as humans are sinners and because God hates sin, there needed to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus became that perfect sacrifice. He gave His life for us on the cross of Calvary, taking on the sins of the whole world.
Can we even begin to imagine how hard it was for God to let his only begotten son whom He loves so much die such a horrible death? Can we even begin to comprehend so great a love that God has for us, a love so great that He have his son as a sacrifice for our sins? Can we even begin to imagine the pain and agony that Jesus endured in order to become that sacrifice? Such great love both have for us. Love unimaginable.
The death burial and resurrection of God’s son, Jesus Christ, was the turning point for all of mankind. His death on the cross of Calvary made possible the forgiveness of our sins. The resurrection of Jesus from the death broke the chains of death. When we give our lives to Jesus in obedience to His will for us, we have forgiveness of our sins and the promise that we will dwell with Him for all of eternity.
As we approach Resurrection Day, let us take time to think about the great price that Jesus paid in order that our sins can be forgiven. Jesus sacrificed His life for us. We owe Him our all. Jesus does not force us to obey Him. He allows us to decide whether or not we will give our lives to Him in obedience to His will in order to receive the forgiveness of our sins and enjoy eternal life with Him. It is up to each one of us to decide whether or not we will accept this most wonderful gift of all times, the gift that will last throughout all of eternity.
