Buel Leonard Monda of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Cuba, Missouri to Walter E. and Nellie Ann (Adair) Monda in rural Crawford County on May 9, 1932 and passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the age of 87 years.
He married Mary Edwards on February 14, 1953 and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage.
Buel owned and operated Monda’s Boot and Saddle for 42 years. He was a people person who never met a stranger and made many lasting friendships though his work.
In his free time, Buel enjoyed turning wood on his lathe and was a premier craftsman.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sullivan, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nellie Ann Monda; and one brother, Roger Monda.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Edwards) Monda of Sullivan, Missouri; two sons, Walter Monda and wife Susan of Sheridan, Indiana and Carl Monda and wife Crystal of Leasburg, Missouri; six grandchildren, Megan Monda, Jon Monda, Austin Monda, Evan Monda, Owen Monda and Robert Clark; three great grandchildren, Samantha and Edmund Monda and Gregory Clark; one brother, Ivan Monda of Cuba, Missouri; four sisters, Shirley Kelly and husband Charles of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Hines of St. Louis, Missouri, Carol Nelson of St. James, Missouri and Sharon White of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Private funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Lew Ensor officiating.
Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
