The Vichy Volunteer Fire Department will host a whole hog sausage and chicken and dumpling dinner on Sunday, June 14.
The dinner will take place at the firehouse/community hall at 14812 Highway 63 in Vichy. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m., or until food runs out. Adult dinners will be $10 each while children's dinners (12 and under) will be $5.
Side dishes of country hash browns, baked beans, homemade cole slaw, chicken and dumplings, homemade desserts and bottled water are included with the dinners.
Due to social distancing requirements, this dinner will be carry-out only.
"For the continued safety of our community, we will not have dine-in seating," explained Bonnie Prigge, board president. "Our May dinner was a carry-out and very successful so we hope the community will bear with us and support us for this dinner as well.”
Because the truck bays are not air conditioned, the serving line will be in the dining hall for this dinner.
“We will have customers to come in one of the truck bay doors and into the dining hall to pay for their food, pick up their order and leave through the main entrance doors,” Prigge said.
The department's next dinner will be Aug. 9 and will feature grilled pork steaks and chicken and dumplings. All profits will go toward the upgrade of department equipment.
