Kathleen Rinehart


    Kathleen Rinehart was born near St. James, Missouri on May 7, 1930 to Tom Hughes and Mary Ann Meurer Hughes and passed away on July 3, 2020 at the age of 90 years.  


    Kathleen was raised by her stepmother Carrie Lorts Branson and grew up in the Rosati and Dillon areas and graduated from John F. Hodge High School.
    On April 29, 1950 she married Bill Rinehart and to this union five children were born.  
    After high school Kathleen worked at the shoe factory in Rolla and later worked at the Elm Restaurant in St. James.
    She also spent many years working in the vineyards – tying vines, picking grapes, and bottling wine for Stoltz Vineyards.
    She volunteered in the elementary school in St. James until she was hired as a personal aide for a student.  She loved being with the students at school as well as the children she knew and worked with in the 4-H club where she was a volunteer for her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.  
    She was a member of the “Friendship Club” and spent many enjoyable days with a special group of ladies in the community.   She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.  
    Kathleen and her husband and later her son, Larry, were caretakers for the Oak Grove Cemetery for many years.  
    Spending time with her family and supporting her kids and grandkids in their many activities made Kathleen the happiest.  She didn’t miss many ball games or pageants or concerts until her health recently prevented her from attending.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother; husband, Bill; sisters, Mary Ann Cornick and husband Leonard, Dorothy Pallay and husband Ernie, Ida Dowell and husband Lloyd and Joan Field; brothers-in-law, Morris Branstetter and wife Frances, Hanse Rinehart and wife Fern, Tom Rinehart and wife Mary Belle, and Jess Rinehart; sister-in-law, Mary Frost and husband Garth.
    Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Connie and husband Bill Laney; sons, Ronnie Rinehart and wife Dianna, Kevin Rinehart and wife LaDonna, Kyle Rinehart and wife Ramona and Larry Rinehart and wife Debbie; brothers-in-law, Jim Rinehart and Martin Rinehart; sisters-in-law, Patty Rinehart and Betty Rinehart; grandchildren, Jeremy Laney (Tracy), Jeff Laney, Whitney Evans (Ryan), Adrienne Wallis, Chiara Wallis, Ross Rinehart (Kasey), Taylour Rinehart, Ashlyn Rinehart, Alyssa Rinehart, Chris Rinehart (Cody), and Shauna Rinehart; great grandchildren, Braxtyn Crider, Lorelai Laney, Elijah Evans, Silas Hancock, Emilighn Laney, Thatcher Hancock, Keightyn Creek, Jackson Evans, and Kredynce Wallis; many other relatives and friends.
    Private visitation for children and grandchildren was held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.
    Private graveside service followed at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Fr. Brendan Griffey officiating.  “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away” was sung by great nieces and nephews, Heather Vinyard, Katie Moreland, Sam Bunyard, Isaac Helterbrand, Rebecca Bunyard, and Jacob Rinehart.  
    Pallbearers were grandchildren Jeremy Laney, Jeff Laney, Whitney Evans, Chris Rinehart, Ross Rinehart, Taylour Rinehart, and Shauna Rinehart.
    Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri.
