Arvella M. “Mickey” Horner (nee Kelley) was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on Monday, August 9, 1937 to Andrew Venus and Rosa Mae (Reynolds) Kelley and passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 8 days.
Mickey accepted the Lord at a young age. She attended Fremont High School in Oakland, California.
She met her husband Jack at a dance after her brother Andy asked her to go with a group of friends. Mickey and Jack married on April 23, 1955 in Reno, Nevada. They were married 54 years.
They raised their family in Fremont, California. Mickey enjoyed singing, (especially harmony), playing the guitar, camping, boating, water skiing, traveling on the open road and later flying their private airplane. She also enjoyed genealogy.
After Jack’s retirement they moved to the Viburnum, Missouri area to be near her brother and sister’s family. They both took up bus driving for the Viburnum School District and enjoyed all of the children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rosa Mae Kelley; husband, Jack Horner; sons, Ronald Horner and Lawrence “Larry” Horner; daughter, Cynthia Lynette Horner; granddaughter, Lana Horner; brothers, Andrew (Bernadette “Bunny”) Kelly and Robert Kelley; and sisters, Rosa Lee (Maximo “Sam”) Reyes and Ruby (Lou) DeMorrow.
She is survived by her son, Mark Steven (Kathy) Horner of Pasadena, Maryland; daughters, Lorilei (Brian) Siemens of Silverdale, Washington and Deborah Lynne (James “Skip”) Jones of Orangevale, California; daughters-in-law, Mary Horner of Hayward, California and Cindy Peters of Danville, California; sister-in-law, Tina Childers of Gilroy, California; grandchildren, Steven, Shellie, Jill (Sal), Jason (Heidi), Heather, Donald (Krista), Angel, Sean, Errick, Kala, Chelsea (Jesse), Megan, Kimberly, Amanda, Michelle (Nick), Julie (Jarrod) and David; great grandchildren, Richard, Haylee, Neveah, Shania, Destaney, Hannah, Melody, Jack, Daniel, Jayden, Micah, Brooklynne, Roman, Destiny, Payton, Jordyn, Logan, Riley, Jaelynn, Joelle, Jesse Jr., Sophia and Ava; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m.-noon on Friday, July 24, 2020 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service followed at noon with Pastor Justin Perry officiating.
Burial was at the Viburnum Baptist Cemetery in Viburnum, Missouri.
